VIEW ITINERARY

Day 1: This morning we’ll board our deluxe motor coach and head south stopping for an included coffee and roll break before continuing south into Iowa. We’ll stop in Des Moines for lunch on your own, then head south into Missouri. We’ll travel through Kansas City and head west to our overnight in Topeka, Kansas. This evening we’ll enjoy our included Welcome Dinner. (CS, D)

Day 2: An included breakfast starts our day, then we’ll continue west across Kansas stopping to visit the beautiful Cathedral of the Plains, constructed in 1908. This afternoon we’ll make a break stop, then head into Colorado and to Colorado Springs for a 2-night stay. (B)

Day 3: Following an included breakfast, we’ll head for Canon City for a ride on the Royal Gorge Railroad. Our train ride will take us through the Royal Gorge and along the Arkansas River 1,200 feet below the Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge. We’ll then visit the Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge Park with admission to all attractions included. This afternoon we’ll return to Col9rado Springs and drive through the Garden of the Gods. We’ll take a photo stop and visit the Trading Post, then return to the hotel for time to rest and freshen up. Our day will end with a wonderful included Chuckwagon Supper and Western show at the Flying “W” Ranch. (B, D)

Day 4: An included breakfast starts the morning, then we’re off to visit the historic old mining town of Cripple Creek. Our first stop will be to ride the Cripple Creek Narrow Gauge Railroad to hear the stories of the area’s mining glory years. Later you’ll have time to browse the downtown area, maybe visit one of the casinos that the town is now known for and have lunch on your own. This afternoon we’ll continue south to our overnight in Alamosa. (B)

Day 5: After an included breakfast we’ll head to Antonito, Colorado to board the Narrow Gauge Cumbres & Toltec Railroad for our wonderful and scenic 8-hour ride through the San Juan mountain ranges including lunch en-route to Chama, New Mexico. Our coach will meet us upon arrival and we’ll then head to Farmington, New Mexico for our overnight. (B, L)

Day 6: We’ll depart this morning stopping to visit the Four Comers National Monument. Later we’ll arrive in Kayenta, AZ for lunch break on your own. Following lunch we’ll drive through the beautiful rock formations of Monument Valley. We’ll cross into Utah later this afternoon and stop to see Navajo Twin Rocks and browse the Trading Post. We’ll then cross into Colorado and head to Durango for our overnight. The evening will free to enjoy the hotel and this wonderful western town.

Day 7: This morning after an included breakfast we’ll board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gage Railroad for a spectacular 3 1/2 hour ride. The train will hug the walls high above the Animas River Canyon to Silverton for some spectacular views. Upon arrival you’ll be free to browse the shops and have lunch on your own. Later we’ll drive the “Million Dollar Highway” taking in the beautiful scenery to America’s “Little Switzerland”, Ouray, Colorado. You’ll have time to browse the downtown area surrounded by 4 magnificent 14,000-foot mountain peaks. Then we’ll continue north to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, America’s newest national park. You’ll be amazed at the sheer walls of this canyon. Our overnight will be in Montrose with the evening free to have dinner on your own. (B)

Day 8: Following breakfast on your own, we’ll head to Grand Junction, CO to board Amtrak for a ride through the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The train will travel through the 6-mile-long Moffat Tunnel, cross the 12,000- foot Continental Divide and travel along the Colorado River through Gore and Glenwood Canyons. The train has dining and snack cars so you can eat on the train. Early this evening you’ll arrive in Denver, the coach will meet you and transfer you to our hotel for the night.

Day 9: Following an included breakfast, we’ll head east across Colorado and into Nebraska. We’ll stop at the world-famous Ole’s Big Game Restaurant for lunch on your own. Later we’ll visit the “Great Platte River Road Archway Memorial”. This wonderful museum stands 8-stories tall and spans the 1-80 Interstate. You’ll learn about the wagon train pioneers who traveled this route. Our overnight will be in York. This evening we’ll enjoy an included Farewell Dinner. (B, D)

Day 10: Today we’ll continue east into Iowa, stopping in Des Moines for lunch on your own. We should arrive back in the Twin Cities early this evening with fond memories of the scenic and spectacular beauty of the Rocky Mountains by train and motorcoach.
